FAQ’s

Which machine formats are available?

My design sets are offered in nine major machine formats:, dst, exp, hus, jef, pcs, pes, vip, vp3 and xxx . Not all the designs will convert if the machine format does not support the hoop size.   Please make sure you double check what size design will fit your machine.  You will receive all formats in one zip file.   I do not have the ability to convert any files to ART.  I do not offer SEW as they require a file size of 3.50 and my smallest is 3.90.

Remember: Ignore the colors that you see on your display screen. Follow the color JPEG provided with the designs.

File Types

Here is a handy chart of common machine brands and formats:

  • DST – Tajima machines
  • EXP – Melco machines
  • HUS – Viking, Husqvarna machines
  • JEF – Janome machines
  • PCS – Pfaff machines (not available on 5×7 designs)
  • PES – Brother, Baby Lock, Bernina machines
  • SEW – Janome, Kenmore, New Home, Elna machines (not available on 5×7 design sets)
  • VIP – Husqvarna machines
  • VP3 – Husqvarna, Pfaff
  • XXX – Singer, Compucon machines
  •  ART – Bernina machines  I cannot provide this file format.  The 830, 780, 750, and 580 Bernina machines need the EXP format for designs. The Bernina 630 and 640 also read the EXP format.

[Hint: If you ever experience problems with a format, I recommend that you try the DST format. Most all machines can also read the DST format in addition to their “default” format.]
The DST and EXP  save no color information. When these formats are opened by embroidery software, the embroidery software loads a default color palette, resulting in some wild and crazy color combinations.

Remember: Ignore the colors that you see on your display screen. Follow the color JPEG provide for the designs.
